The Signs
If you are seeing large, grapefruit sized holes on your property (especially on hillsides or near trees) and large rodents running along your property then it is likely that you have ground squirrels!

Ground Squirrels
Ground squirrels are terrestrial rodents that live in large colonies. They move a large amount of dirt to create their intricate underground burrows. Their digging can cause damage to entire hillsides, foundations, driveways, and other structures. They also often carry fleas which can be passed to yourself and your pets.
Like the other burrowing rodents we take care of, ground squirrels are native to Northern California.

Due to the fact that ground squirrels are prolific breeders, trapping is an ineffective method of control. We use a multi-feed bait kept in bait stations that are strategically placed around your property to keep control of the population. Our bait stations are specifically designed and built in house to provide the highest level of protection and security from other animals.
The bait we use is restricted by the state so we are only able to use it during the dry months (typically April through October) but we do provide emergency trapping services during the wet months in case the squirrels begin digging at your foundation, driveway, or other structures.
Due to the size of ground squirrel colonies and their prolific reproduction rate, it often takes up to a year of consistent treatment to gain control of the population which is why we structure our ground squirrel service as an ongoing annual service. Learn more about our ongoing program here!
