Contact the Gopher Team

Saratoga is home to many beautiful vineyards and gardens and, unfortunately, many frustrating burrowing pests. These beautiful open spaces provide a wonderful setting to live in but they also increase your chances of having said pests make their way into your maintained yards and gardens. Here at the Gopher Team, let the experts take care of these critters and protect your lawn and other plants!

Gopher Control

Gophers are one of the main burrowing pests we encounter here in California, and like we mentioned, the lush landscapes of areas like Saratoga are perfect homes for them. If you are noticing the telltale crescent-shaped mounds starting to appear around your property please reach out to us so that we can help trap those critters!

Mole Control

Moles, like gophers, are also burrowing pests that are very common in California. Unlike gophers they do not eat our plants, they instead eat little worms and insects in the soil. They create huge underground tunnels that can damage our landscapes though.

Vole Control

Voles are another common culprit in this state. They differ from gophers and moles in that they are not good diggers so they do not leave behind any pushed up piles of dirt. They chew small holes in the soil and grass and strip the outer layer from the base of plants. We offer a very different service for voles than we do for gophers or mole so please be sure to take a look!

FAQs

Are gophers active year-round in Saratoga?

Unfortunately they are, they do not have a hibernation period during the winter. The good news is that they are less likely to come onto your property during the winter though! This is because nearby open spaces will be nice and hydrated and full of plant life for them to eat.

What signs indicate an active gopher problem versus old damage?

It can sometimes be difficult to tell what is new vs old activity at a property – especially during summertime when the soil is generally dried out. An easy way to check if you have an active gopher is to walk your property and flatten/spread out any mounds you come across. Then check the property again in a couple days to see if any new mounds have popped up.

If you feel confident in identifying gopher mounds you can also tell what’s new and what’s old by the look and texture of the soil. New mounds will be fresh dirt so they will have a bit more vibrancy to them versus the old ones. Old mound will be more crumbly and flatter.

Do you offer long-term control solutions for Saratoga homeowners?

We do offer a form of long-term control in Saratoga! It’s our Gopher, Mole, and Vole Control Program. It is an ongoing program where we come out unprompted to check the property for critter activity about every 6 weeks. It also includes unlimited service calls so you can have us out whenever you see new activity!
