Raccoons and other animals are usually just looking around for food. They will commonly rummage through our trash, steal outdoor pet food, or rip up our lawns.
We usually encounter them causing issues for our customers in summer and fall. They are known to steal gophers and moles from our traps and they pull up lawns in search of grubs.

Unfortunately even we haven’t found a way to prevent them from stealing our catches. They can smell our catches so they are easy pickings for them.
However, you can deter them from digging at your lawn for grubs! It’s a pretty easy solution too. You just get some fruit tree netting from any local home supply or hardware store and secure it over the lawn areas. The texture is rough so raccoons and skunks dislike the feeling of it on their sensitive paws.
If you keep seeing activity we recommend reaching out to a company that is equipped to help with these bigger critters! We often refer to a company called Animal Damage Control but you can always check with your neighbors or local Nextdoor to find other recommendations!
